Situated on the stunning marine heritage coastline of Cardigan Bay West Wales, Plas y wern is a 19th century Welsh farmhouse surrounded by fields and meadows facing west and out to sea. We offer two holiday cottages and two static caravans for hire, all with private gardens and uninterrupted views of the sea. For campers we have established two pitches in mature wild flower meadows. This is the perfect location for lovers of nature, and those seeking peace and tranquility!
Cardigan Bay is a panoramic vista for you to stand and gaze at… On a clear day you can see the outline of the Lleyn peninsula to the north, with Bardsey Island at its western point, and to the south the Aberporth peninsular and beyond! In late spring and all through the summer, the sun sets into the sea in front of the property. The skies are clear, the stars are bright and the views amazing.
We try to support a diversity of flora and fauna through our site management, and encourage biodiversity of our meadows and wetland habitats. Red kites and buzzards wheel across the sky, badgers, foxes, rabbits, voles, owls and numerous small birds make it a nature lovers dream.
The emphasis here is on a peaceful country holiday with fantastic beaches. For those of you who have not yet discovered this secretive stretch of coast, there are the 3 National trust beaches of Mwnt, Penbryn, and
Cwmtudu along with 4 blue flag beaches of Llangrannog, New Quay, Tresaith and Aberporth all within a few minutes drive! Most of the beaches are sheltered, sandy coves and are connected by The Ceredigion Coastal path, this spectacular coastal walk takes you through some breathtaking scenery from Cardigan all the way to Aberystwyth. Cardigan Bay was the UK’s first Marine Heritage Coast sheltering some of the rarest birds and marine life, and is home to bottle-nose dolphins, porpoises and grey seals. These are regularly spotted from the shore, and boat trips are available from New Quay and Aberaeron to see them close up!
Cardigan town has all the amenities, bustling pubs, coffee shops, bistro’s and markets where locally produced food and crafts can be found in abundance. We have a highly recommended and award winning farm shop Llwynhelg down the road for local delicacies and groceries, you can even order your groceries on-line and have them delivered ready for your arrival!
From fish and chips to locally caught crab, along with cafes and restaurants offering high class cuisine. We have everything Cornwall has, but, not so busy!
